/ Händel ‘s Magnum Opus: The Messiah, from Palau de la Musica Catalana /

Next Thursday, 20th January at 20:00 pm, the Filharmonia Digital Hall  premieres on streaming the debut of maestro Paul Agnew, musical director of the famous ensemble: Les Arts Florissants, with the Franz Schubert Filharmonia playing Händel’s Messiah, one of the greatest hits of classical music.

Next to the Choir Francesc Valls, from the Cathedral of Barcelona and a professionally projected quartet of soloists, we will be delighted with a piece that never goes out of style, which ended up making its composer famous and which fulfills a spiritual function that bring us closer to art.

This great work by Händel led him at the age of 50 to dedicate himself almost exclusively to composing oratorios: he wrote about thirty, but with The Messiah he completely succeed. It is an immense, brilliant, spectacular work, but also very difficult to perform.

In this spectacular oratorio can be heard one of the greatest hits of classical music, Händel’s Hallelujah. But what is more difficult to understand is that most of the fragments of The Messiah have not also become indispensable too.
